GIGAWATT - screened installation power cable LC-Y 3X4 (15.05.2010)

GigaWatt (Poland) has added a new installation power cable called LC-Y 3X4. It is dedicated for power supply of audio and video systems sensitive to external interference. The cable is made of three solid core wires of high purity electrolytic copper. The cross section of each wire is 4 mm2. The three wires are laid in parralel arrangement and are screened with aluminium foil. A 1,5mm2 drain wire made of tinned copper is in contact with the shield along its length. The three conductors and the shield are encapsulated in plastic material for vibration damping. The outer layer is made of protective PVC jacket resistant to mechanical shocks.

Employment of static shield serves to reduce EMI and RFI. The shield is particularely important for protection of audio-video systems and computers, in hospitals, or when sensitive measurement equipment is connected. The cable is advised for aplications in those places which are sensitive to electromagnetic radiation. The cable can be used over, under or in plaster, both in dry and moist spaces or directly in concrete. It can be used outdoors on the condition that it is not exposed to direct sunlight or that it is used inside cable tubing. The price in Poland is 95 PLN per meter.
